Right on, PolymerizedProfessional. I got tired of arguing with his oh-so-educated ass. He must have shorted out my simple, uneducated American mind with his opinion of people living here. There are horrible dubs, but I've found over the years that there are plenty that don't grate on my nerves like some people seem to have a problem with. I'd like to see him post crap like that at the AnimeNation forums. He'd find out quick that you don't need to travel to Japan and learn the language to appreciate anime for what it is. Anime tells a great story, but the (usually) small amount of editing done to some of it when dubbed to english really doesn't change much. Hey RACER and the like - what's the big deal? I'm an American and I love being one... though I don't often consider myself ignorant or stupid regardless of vague generalizations by foreign morons like yourselves. There ARE smart people and talented voice actors in America. Though you do have a good point about dubbed anime, most are done very poorly (i.e. Armitage III Dual Matrix, Spriggan) but some are done great (i.e. VHD:Bloodlust, X). That fact that VHD:B was orginally created "dubbed" should tell you about the strong faith Urban Vision had in it's American voice acting team. I hate reading annoying subtles which is very different from reading a book (in your own language ~ dumbass), that analogy was ridiculous. The only reason I tolerate the subtitled anime that I do is because the American voice acting for them is so shameful. First off Urban Vision Rocks! I have half of your DVD collection already and I'm working on buying them all! I did a Google search for "Golgo 13 The Professional DVD" and came up with some Australian websites announcing the DVD release on Tuesday, April 6th 2002. While I am excited that it's finally being released on DVD. I'm wodering when Avid Anime fans and fans of Golgo 13 in 'The States' will see a similar release. We want Golgo 13! HEY MATT. Well, all things being equal and as I am an animator, I like to enjoy the animation a great deal as well. I buy DVDs so that I have the option to watch the movie in the original language without subtitles. Failing that, I will watch a movie with subtitles and as a person with some education, the fraction of a second a subtitle takes far outweighs the pain of sitting through the voice acting. Now if you haven’t traveled before or did not take the time to learn a foreign language, I empathize with the fact that you probably do not have an adequate comparison for what dubbed versions really sound like. Imagine a Japanese voiceover for Morgan Freeman. Anyway, if you prefer not to take the time to enjoy the original films as they were created, it’s your life. I’m tired of arguing with the bulk of the uneducated US. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was made in English to begin with so in this case, it doesn’t matter anyway. HEY RACER. I just wanted to thank you. It sure is great to know that there are still people like you out there with their heads shoved so far up their a$$e$ that they think they know everything. I happen to have a job; read more than you can possibly comprehend; hate N'SYNC and Sailor Moon with a passion; and I'm 24, not 12. To get to the point, I happen to prefer dubs over the original subs in plenty of instances. I would rather enjoy the ANIMATION completely than dividing my attention between that and the subtitles. Yes, a lot of dubs are horrible. That's why I buy everything hybrid if I can. Then I can watch it whichever way I feel like at the time. First of all, people like Melanee make me sick. How anyone can be so openly low as to like dubbed versions over the original acting because they "don't like to read" is beyond me. Go finish high school people. Read a book. Maybe that will do you some good and get you watching something aside from TRL and hanging out at Denny’s all day. Melanee is a perfect example of why other countries think of Americans as ignorant and stupid. As for the profanity below, I agree that it is not the best way to deal with the lack of any Japanese dialogue and while my rage after I bought the DVD probably matched his, this is something I just found out that everyone should know: *** Will the movie be shown in Japanese? The original language version of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is English. For its theatrical run in Japan, the widespread release was in English with Japanese subtitles. In Korea, the film is being shown in English with Korean subtitles. *** This was taken from the official site (www.vampirehunterdbloodlust.com -go to "fan stuff" and then "faq"). Evidently Urban Vision had a large part in financing this project and therefore it was *originally* made in English. While as an animator I am very happy that an animated piece of this quality was made possible, the movie will always have a bad taste because the audio tracks and voice selections are quite simply horrible. Sorry about this for all of the real fans out there. The rest of you dubbed fans should go out and get a job. I think you are missing a N'SYNC concert somewhere. I just read that idiots' comments on your decision to release VHD Bloodlust in English only on the DVD. Besides having to wade through all the profanity their comments were just uncalled for. Alot anime fans like just dub if it's done right. I have to say that I do watch my DVD's in the Japanese language because the subtitles often say some things that are totally different from what the dub actors are saying. But I much prefer dub. I don't have to read to find out what is happening, and I can just enjoy the show. Next time Mr. Pottyfinger should read the packaging. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was awsome!! This is what anime should look and sound like. For all the hipe on "Ghost in the Shell", "Blood" and "Akira", VHD:B was the only one that delivered. VHD:B had both fantastic animation and a understandable storyline. You didn't have to have read the manga to understand the storyline. Keep up the great work. And I just got done watching Neon Genisis: Evangelion, which has definatly scored at the top of my list.
